Jamie Said:
Where in South East Asia should I go for my first backpacking trip?We Answered:
Singapore will be your ideal country. As you are travel alone and your first backpack trip, safety should be your first priority. Singapore is a very well organised and safe country. It's not so big as you will get lost but big enough for a week tour.It should meet your objectives:
1. many people come to Singapore to buy electronic products as our prices are very competitive. For about US$1000 you should be able to get a Intel core 2 duo processor with 2GHz, 2GB ram and 320GB of Hard disk. Two places to shop for : Funan, the IT Mall(www.funan.com.sg) and Sim Lim Square(www.simlimsquare.com.sg). As a visitor, I would advise you to go to Funan instead of Sim Lim to avoid being rip off.
2. Singapore have many well preserved heritage buildings. Here are two for your reference:

ii. www.singapore-vacation-attractions.com/s…
3. If you don't mind stay in dormitory or hostel, a budget of US$20 to S50 per day should not be a problem. As for food, check out this page: www.singapore-vacation-attractions.com/h…
Welcome you to Singapore.

RP students.....Questions about housing near Republic Polytechnic....?We Answered:
which country r u from? u can rent a hdb flat for $400-$500 per person per room. or $700-$800 per room with 2 pax. one whole flat would cost $1500 to $2000. deposit varies from one month to 3 months. there r many flats around RP available. u can check the straits times classified on saturdays where rooms/flats are listed. try finding one without any realty agent involved. u google the map around RP and u can choose the blocks u wanna live in. Around RP there's everything - facilities, amenities, food, supermart, train, buses. u can survive around $10 or less per day for food and u can buy from Fairprice supermart around the town centre near RP. many ways of savings and living comfortably and frugal. if u're tight on $$, avoid cold storage, 7-11. www.virtuesproject.com will help u adjust
