If you are on a Tier 4 student visa you will have to comply with its conditions, if you don it may well effect any future applications.

If you have completed up to degree level you might be able to apply for the post study work visa

no, you can't sorry. you can only do that if you and the retailer have signed a vat refund document at the time of sale and they have some sort of evidence to show you intend on leaving in a very short time after the time of sale, usually only one month. so for the stuff you already have, you definately can't be done. plus, if you did do that form with the retailer, and you come back with the same stuff, customs will stop you and ask for the vat on it, so you're at no gain anyway.
