ask your school - don't worry because they won't say no if you can and if they say you can't - well then you can't - it will be the same rule for everyone I would think -
ask at the embassy - your countries and the UK embassy
call them or go there
-ask in more than one place, your school, the embassies, ask a few places so you know that no one overlooked any rules and you will be able to come back when you want and leave when you want.
I wouldn't take anyones advice on the net
