I will be going to University of Toronto this summer, too. As I was told, it is the best to stay at the campus. It is because you'll have lots of new friends and the money you give will compensate with that. Also, if you are planning to apply for UofT in the future, it will give you some information about the campus life there.

There are tons of students in Boston who don't want to stay for the summer, you will have many many options for a summer sublet.

If you can manage to get a cheap basement suite in Kits you will have a great time. Kitsilano is where you want to be if you are a student. It is very close to downtown, right by Kits Beach and in a neighbourhood with some nightlife.

good spots
-Kits Beach
-Spanish Banks
-Granville Island
-downtown

if you can't find a place at kits, try staying in Residence at UBC, it will be cheaper but further away from downtown and the beaches
- if you stay at UBC it will also be easier to meet new people
