Whether you get at BSc or BA (Bachelor of Arts) depends on the types of subject studied. Counselling studies is a bit nondescript, it could be classed as humanities/arts, or a social science.

The 2nd answerer is correct, you can apply online. Just check what it says there. I think you are talking about the maintenance grant right?

If you have doubts then call up your local authority or even your uni's finance department. I had a meeting with someone from my finance department and they were very helpful, if you can't meet them then just phone them up, there are people out there to help.

If you applied online you probably applied for non income support? Your parents will either need to apply online to support your application or fill in paper applications - PFF1's (you may be able to down load these from Student Finance England) and supply evidence of their income. Any grants paid will depend on this information - if income is below 39,000 you may get some sort of grant.

It may take some time for your application to be reassessed so be aware of that but you will not lose out because of that.
