Whenever you call the Student Finance always ask to speak to a supervisor and take their full name.

Quite simply the staff on the telephones aren't trained to answer queries properly, I know this due to working with them for a number of years. I imagine the late processing of applications is also as a result of the staff lacking the competence to deal with them correctly and on time.

Before this year the applications were processed by local authorities and none of these problems occurred, we processed all applications (even the flood of late ones) within 2-3 weeks and our phone lines were always free to answer calls.

Student Finance are sh*t holes. The customer service is really bad. I suggest you keep phoning them up again and again until you get through to someone that can help. I had to phone serveral times. Don't worry about the university, explain to them and they will understand your circumstance. Also on your Student Finance account on the Direct Gov Website, you can ask them one question, and only once. I suggest you do that too.

My loan got slightly delayed aswell cause of issues with SF, but in the end all was sorted.
