Phone Student Finance company, explain this to them, they will then tell you if they need to send out another letter etc. Trust me they are used to this type of thing, so it won't be a hassle for them to deal with. By doing this you are then keeping yourself right, and it can't fall back on you.

hi, yeah i know what your talking about, i've applied too, didn't have that specific problem, but many, many others :/ their website is as clear as mud. You need to phone their support line, which is on the directgov website, just wait until it clicks you through then speak with one of the advisers. they are actually really helpful and patient, even when your in hysterics down the end of the phone... they will sort it for you, but just make sure you have your customer ref. number at hand, and the rest of your private details. i don't want to alarm you but the deadline for getting the money on time for means tested students is today, but i'm sure it will be fine if worst comes to the worst... they mess up thousands of applications every year, so whatever your problem, i guarantee hundreds more are going through the same thing!

To be honest I got exactly the same problems...
I haven't heard anything from that in ages and they haven't changed my online status, even though I sent them all the evidence they need ages ago...
I'm scared I won't get anything before my course starts at the beginning of October...
I was looking for an alternative to contact them online today myself and found this:

I would contact Student Finance ASAP. Most likely, with the economy we're in, they're quite used to dealing with situations such as yours. And, most likely you filled out your dad's work info on the application anyway, so now it needs to be edited. When I was in school, there was a period of time when my dad's tax records said he made X amount of dollars, but that was from the year before. When I was applying (using those tax records), he was unemployed. So, I called up my financial aid office at school and they helped me to find other alternatives.

If you live in the US, I would suggest filling out a FAFSA form at: www.fafsa.ed.gov if you haven't already. Look into scholarships and other grant programs as well. But be sure to talk to your school's Financial Aid department as soon as you can! Good luck!

The student finance is the most annoying thing ever. This time of the year is the busiest time for them as they are now dealing with thousand and thousand applications.

Last week, i tried to contact them and yeah like you said above, they put you through to the answer machine. i kept an eye on my online application but there was nothing change. it got me so worried.

Surprisingly, yesterday they have sent me a letter saying my application has been approved, and my online status has also changed.
Now what i suggest you to do is to wait, i know exactly how you feel when you waiting for something but unfortunately here isn't much you can do. Student finance people are aware of that and they are working on it.

Student Finance is in a mess at the moment, if you have financial notification detailing payments, go to your uni and seek an access to learning fund, this will give you cash until your loan comes through. It shouldn't take any longer than 5 days to clear but the backlog means lots of people are without funding.
