I believe so...as long as you take enough credits to be considered half-time. The school determines this amount. Sometimes colleges will consider you half time if you take just one class, sometimes they won't consider you half-time unless you have 6 credits or more. Keep in mind, however, that interest will continue to accrue on unsubsidized loans even when they're in deferment. The money you pay towards your "cheap" classes plus the time you would have to put into them would probably be better of going to repay your student loans.
