Dan Said:
What benefits am I entitled to when my baby is born in the UK?We Answered:
There is a benefit maternity pay that the government give out for 6 months. I don't really no much about this other than there is one. You would have to go to the job centre and ask. Or have a look on direct gov. There is the health in pregnancy grant that everyone is entitled to that's £190.(ask midwife)
You can be paid income support if you work less than 16hours a week that's £60 per week but could be less as you do some work.(see job centre)
If your on a low income then there is another £500 grant that the government give out to help with costs before the baby is born. (ask midwife)
You will also get child benefit that everyone is entitled to that £20 per week for your first child for everyone no matter your income.( see bounty pack you get at hospital after delivery)
You will also get tax credits or working tax credits.(Call and ask tax credits for a form)
Healthy start vouchers £3.10 per week when pregnant, then £6.20 for a baby under one then £3.10 for a child 1+. This is a vouchers that entitles you to Milk or fresh vegetables. (call Healthy start people)
Also on the direct gov website there is a benefits calculator there you can work out what benefits you entitled to.

Ask your midwife, when I was pregnant I was working full time on a low income. My midwife new what I was entitled to and gave me numbers to ring and she also had the forms for some things
.
Ignore the people that say its not the governments baby because you do work and go to uni!! Your not one of the bums that has 5 kids to claim more benefits and you don't sit on your bum all day.
