Student Finance Help

student finance?

We Answered:

There is different sorts of finance avaliable in the UK.

Tuition fees : At the moment, theyre just over £3000 a year. Student from low income families can get a non-repayable grant to cover part/all of this. Everyone can get a repayable loan to cover the whole thing.

Maintanence Loan : There's a maintanence loan you can apply for, in London this is about £6500 (compared to £4600 for the rest of the UK). 25% of this is based on your parents income.

On top of this, there may be non-repayable grants you can get, such as the Assembly Learning Grant if you live in Wales, which is up to £3000 a year, depending on your parents income. Uni's also offer grants, you'll need to get in touch with the one you're going to, to see what they offer.

All of these (apart from what the uni offers) can be applied for in one form from Student Finance Direct, which is the one you've probably sent to you're local education authority (which is where it needs to go). They have a calculator on thie website to see how much help you could get
http://www.studentfinancedirect.co.uk

It might be worth giving your LEA a phone call to find out exactly what you applied for, since you don't seem to know what you even put on the form! If you've filled it in wrong, they generally give you a phone call to let you know and send it back to re-do it.

how long does student finance take to send passport back?

We Answered:

I had this problem because I didn't pay for correct postage....so it ended up getting sent to some mail place in Glasgow or something...but nobody bothered to tell me despite the return to sender address on back lol....had to ring various places to find it...

However if yours was sent special delivery I'm sure there would be no problem with this? Student Finance are just incredibly slow and disorganised, tbh. Ring them up to find out if you're that worried.

Student Finance?

Yes, i think you would be entitles to the full grant,as your mother is a lone parent and gets low income. Student finance is income assesses, so once you fill in the PR1 form you should get the full amount of money.

Your local education authority should be able to tell you if they can help with your fees.
