they dont know that you dont have a student loan, both will be released at the same time. it will say on the student finance website the status of your payment, approved, prepared, submitted or paid. its normally 3 days after the prepared/submitted stage which is usually your first day of term.

Firstly, congratulations :)

When you apply for a student loan, you should get a letter telling you how much money you are entitled to.
Usually, you get something called a PAYMENT SCHEDULE which details when you will get the installments of your loan/grant paid into your account.
Usually, it is paid a few days before the first day of term for your university.
You shouldn't need to do anything... the money will go into your account without your agreement; the agreement was given when you signed the form saying you requested the student loan.
