Can I get compensation from the government?? For Discrimination and making me struggle!?

We Answered:

Hello
The main issue, in the first instance, is to sort out your support needs as soon as possible so that your academic studies can progress.

Universities and colleges must consider support needs of students with disabilities, special needs or medical conditions - the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) sets out requirements around ‘reasonable adjustments’ and ‘Disability Equality Schemes’, for example. Most universities and colleges have disability coordinators or advisers to advise regarding support, arrange assessment of needs and liaise with academic or other staff, as required. If you haven’t already done so, it’s important to meet with the disability coordinator for discussion and advice about your current support needs and to help plan for future study. As suggested in another answer, Student Services are normally the appropriate point of contact at the university.

It’s also worth having a look at http://www.skill.org.uk, the website for Skill: the National Bureau for Students with Disabilities.

Incidentally, supported open learning with The Open University may offer another alternative; see http://www.open.ac.uk/disability/pages/c… (support for students with disability, illness or additional requirements) and http://www.open.ac.uk/ (general overview of OU study).

I hope this information helps you resolve your query and I wish you well in your future study.

ucas, i have some questions

We Answered:

You shouldn't have to do anything on UCAS at the moment. I'm not sure what you mean by your application has been accepted, but if you definitely have a place at university (and you're not waiting for any exam results) then you shouldn't need to do anything.

Now you have to send off your application for student finance. Get someone to help you if you don't understand some of it. Everyone can get the loan for tuition fees but whether you get anything else will depend on your household income. You might also need to send a form for accommodation at university.
