Housing Benefit For Students
Amy Said:
can i claim eimployment and support allowance, income support or housing benefit if im a full time student at?We Answered:
I have just applied for a college course and have an interview soon and the form did say they will discuss funding and grants -i am currently on JSA and I believe I can claim income support and housing benefit while i study, i am single and have rent etc to pay and I am a very mature student. Students do not pay council tax and if you have no income or a very low income you will get housing benefit. Speak to the college and they should advise the best thing to do.Daniel Said:
Can I Claim Housing Benefit? Partner a Student.?We Answered:
Yes you can apply but your partners loans etc are taken into account as income. If in doubt you should apply anyway as you will not be penalised if you do not qualify, but will lose out if you don't apply and would have qualified.Daisy Said:
Can I Claim Housing Benefit as a disabled student? We Answered:
http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/life…The above website might give you some idea of your rights to Housing and Council Tax benefit as the whole area can be confusing and complicated.
I'm so sorry to hear of your plight. You sound like you have a lot to cope with at the moment. Living with chronic pain is difficult because it can cloud your judgement and make general day to day living like making decisions difficult too. (I live with chronic pain due to rheumatoid arthritis & osteoporosis.)
Your place of study should be able to help you with all this and would perhaps benefit you if you have someone who could act on your behalf when dealing with these types of issues. My daughter was at college and there was a Student Councellor there too who helped with all different issues. You could ask your tutor in the first instance who your uni councellor is.
I sincerely hope that through YA & your uni you can find a solution to your problems. I wish you Good Luck & I'm sure that once you have these issues and worries about housing benefit dealt with you will be able to deal better with your depression. (((hugs)))
