Residential housing at Florida Atlantic University is mandatory for "all full-time freshman students" unless:
-you are residing with a parent or legal guardian within 50-miles from the campus,
-you are a student 21 years of age,
-or if you are married

As of 2007, 2,406 students (9% of the university body) live on-campus in Boca Raton. The Wilkes Honors College on the MacArthur Campus requires all students live on-campus within its two residence halls, however, exceptions are made for students who are 26 years of age, married, or have dependent children.

Within its existing residential life programs, Florida Atlantic offers a number of Learning Communities for freshman and students with similar interests and concentrations. Participants meet people with similar interests, live on the same floor and take courses with others in their community, while receiving additional guidance related to those interests. The university's Learning Community programs are divided into two categories, Freshman Learning Communities and Living Learning Communities. The freshman program offers 16 different concentrations, including business, nursing, and education. The Living program offers six concentrations for students residing in the Heritage Park Towers dormitory, including engineering and computer science and a Women's Leadership program.


So...Most FAU students dont live on campus but those that do tend to be younger, so dont worry there will be plenty of people your age. Besides, in college, age is not a big deal you will probably be "hanging out" with people that are older or even younger than you.

I live in Tampa and met many UT graduates. UT is an excellent small school but its not the best in Florida. Rollins College, Florida Southern College, Stetson University, Eckerd College, and New College are all better than UT but UT is still an excellent small school.
The only other drawback is the high tuition but if you get a scholarship that doesnt matter.
The campus is in downtown. Its not as scenic as one of the schools I mentioned before but its still a nice campus.
UT deserves great credit for the variety of courses they offer. Before the Sykes made a big donation UT wasn't as diverse.

Your college should have a housing department. The only "program" out there for students is a student loan, you are allowed to use them for housing. There is no way this country could afford to house every college student for free.
