Accounting Jobs For Students

Leona Said:

Is it a good idea to study accounting?

We Answered:

Accounting jobs won;t be shipped anywhere - accounting is different in each country - Michigan in general is probably not one of the better places to look for work in any field

Accounting in general is one of the better paying and better job opportunity fields to get into in the future

Is it hard for international students with bachlor's degree in accounting to get an accounting job?

We Answered:

I have no experience specific to accounting, but I have worked for a number of large mulitnational corporations, some American, some European, and have worked with many coworkers in the US who did not have US citizenship(outside of the US I was the expat). My suggestion, if this is what you want, is to try the large multinational companies. Many will sponsor employees, some will not, but they are often willing to employ foreign nationals because they operate in so many countries that it becomes routine for HR to deal with the complexities of having an international employee base. Good luck.

Accounting Jobs ???.......?

We Answered:

After BBA in accounting, you can work at CA firms, finance firms, banks, consulting and advisory, audit, tax, and management.

Volunteering is an excellent way to start building your resume and creating your networks. Also look into internships, some companies may have intern programs for first year students like yourself. As well, you don't necessarily need to volunteer in an accounting firm if you can't manage to get a volunteer job. You can find a part-time job in retail or anything that shows you have good communication and interpersonal skills. Of course the technical skills are important, but its the soft skills that employers look for.

This is a travel forum, not a career counseling agency.

An interesting question, no doubt. However, most of us lack the knowledge necessary to effectively answer it. Your question implies that, just because we live in SoCal, we have any knowledge of the inner workings of the accounting industry. Not to worry, however, it's a common mistake. We get a number of these questions every week, and the fact of the matter is that nobody in this forum has enough experience in that business to provide any useful info.

Might I suggest your career counseling office? Or check the ads on monster.com, careerbuilder.com, and craigslist?

What part-time jobs are good for Accounting students?

We Answered:

Volunteer work is an excellent idea and also a great training ground for your future career. However, I would not do telemarketing. It is such a dead-end and also nerve-wracking job. I would volunteer in exchange for professional experience and references at a financial institution (your local taxation office, CPA firm, Social Security Administration, hospital billing department).

For a paying job, how about customer service in a large department store or even car dealership?

Good luck to you! Study hard and keep focused on your career goals!
