Are there any legitimate good paying stay at home jobs?

We Answered:

Hi Sweetie,

I wrote a blog on advice for working from home. Link is in the 2nd paragraph of my profile here on answers. About midway through the comments are two links to real websites that list REAL JOB opportunities of varying types. At one point I worked for one of the companies that both websites list.

If you stay away from anything that require you PAY for information, you will be safe. Also bear in mind that legit companies who hire teleworkers have applications that must be filled out, do interviews, etc.... just as though you were going to someone's office to make application.

Most of these companies pay by the hour or by the job. Some offer full time others only part time dependent on the contract they have for virtual reps. Hourly pay usually ranges from $7.00 per hour to about $12.00, again, dependent on the company and the contract you will be working under.

REMEMBER - YOU don't pay someone to work a JOB - they pay you ... and if it sounds too good to be true, it is probably a scam.

If you are looking for a home based business, you must keep in mind that despite all the promises of people making money instantly upon signing up, this in not realistic and usually a scam. Most home based businesses take a bit of time and sweat equity before you actually generate any income. Also, don't be sucked in by people who want to get you into some FREE business. Usually these are a waste of time or a come on that ends up causing you to spend more money than you would ever be able to make.

What are some work-at-home online jobs I can do as a college student?

We Answered:

The first thing to consider is that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Jobs don't ask for money... "opportunities" do. Jobs ask for your social security number because they have to deduct taxes or send you a 1099 form. The down side is that getting your SS number also opens you up to identity theft. With that in mind, you may proceed in your search. The ONLY legitimate work from home situations that you should consider is either checked out with the Better Business Bureau or your own business in which you know that the financial and legal issues are covered. Business is a legal venture ... make sure you're protected and safe.

I would definitely check out doing surveys online if you have the patience. I started doing them in college when i was a freshman for some extra spending cash and it made me some decent money. I read all the details at this site http:/cashcratereview.org before jumping in as they offered some tips and what to stay away from. But it's certainly in no way a bad site or bad company, and they are totally legit and free to sign up.
