See if your school provides internships leads. Check with your adviser, check any billboards around campus, around your "academics" department. Also sites like monster and etc. There are Monster-type sites specifically for intern and entry level positions. Again, your adviser will have all that info.

For a regular summer job ... yeah ... go to main street and apply for a coffee shop, a Barnes & Nobel, a radioshack. I'm sure there's a College Avenue near you with all the bars and shops. Also your local public library is a good place to look. They post jobs in the community, and post their own openings, which is great for a student. There's also work study jobs.

i think the best thing to do is search job sites. sometimes, colleges will have their own site dedicated to job seekers in areas around the campus

if you don't have much experience besides working a cash register, that is ok. you still have many options, such as being a server or host at a restaurant, or being a sales associate at a department/discount store. if you want to make more money, try being a teller at a bank.

some people like jobs that pay well, but others prefer jobs that they enjoy. for someone your age, money is obviously important, but it's more important to get a job that is flexible with your schedule. don't set your standards too high. at this time, apply to as many places that you look interested in and take it from there. that way, you have options to choose from

also, if the job you have will take you back for short periods of time (winter/spring breaks), i would stick with them. some jobs may pay better, but it's nice to have a job that you know you can always go back to

Sounds like a legitimate job opportunity. Research the company. That's the best way to find out if it is a scam or not.

If you are normal looking or above, go for a waiter job or work at the airport. If you are less than decent looking and really like cheap beer, go for the masonry.

Masonry will pay higher but tips may make up for that if you are a waiter.
