What's your college major? You'll get a head start if you use your education and work experience hand in hand. You will make more money working for yourself that you will working for an employer and get some sweet tax credits. I would suggest finding an employer that offers tuition reimbursement, health insurance, 401K plan with match, whatever to help you in addition to the salary. As far as working for yourself think about what products and/or services you can offer in a true customer focused company of your own. Do you want to sell books? Do you want to sell video games? Do you want to paint rooms? Do you want to tutor younger students over the summer? There are so many things you can do. Personally I would look into installing and selling energy saving appliances ... dishwashers, thermostats, energy light bulbs, etc. Think green and think green. If you do want the safety of an employer, consider Walgreens or CVS or Walmart or even McDonalds treats people reasonably well. Great employees get great treatment. If all else fails, consider being a clown. I don't know why but it just seems like a "fun" job.

You could start looking for an internship during the summers that is relevant to your studies and career. The pay is pretty good as well. This is a good way to get some experience in your field so that when you finish college you have a good chance of being hired by one of the companies you interned for.

That was one of the mistakes I made in college. I did not start looking for internships until later in my college career, and by then no one wanted to hire me.

The easiest would be to set up an eBay business for yourself.

Decide what you might want to sell (something you are familiar with that you think might be cool).

Do the pix, ad copy, let the net do your selling 24/7.
