Job Search College Students

Leslie Said:

In your opinion, what is the highest paying job for an average college student?

We Answered:

It kind of depends on what part of the country you are in and what your degree is in. Having actual work experience on our resume helps. Try to make waves while you are at your current job so you have something pretty cool to put on your resume and talk about in a resume, something that shows you are not scared to challenge the status quo.

Networking also helps. I know in college this isn't easy, but you'd be surprised what people are willing to do for college students that express interest in what they are doing. If there is a career field you are particularly interested in find a company that does that and ask if you can meet some people that do what you want to do. 2/3s of the time they'll say sure. This gets your face in front of prospective employers.

Two other ways you can network are to attend local chapter meetings for groups that are in the area you are interested in. A second is to get on Linkedin.com. I am sure once you sign on an search who is on it from your school you will expand your network quickly. I used this site to network my way to a great job with a company I had never heard of before. Give it a look. I definitely think it is worth your time.

Disabled college student searching for job advice?

Nathan, just list those wonderful talents you have and boast about them! Sell youself. In California, on every application they ask if you are disabled and this actually will give you the edge!

College student in search for a job...?

We Answered:

Really, you need to know the procedures for looking for a job? You check for people who are hiring, and then you apply. Campus jobs are usually better because they are usually more schedule friendly.

Mabel Said:

Who else is a poor college student in desperate search of a summer job?

We Answered:

I was a poor desperate college student looking for a job, so I can relate to your situation. It can be frustrating. I’ve been doing freelance writing and website design projects between college. Depending on the project, the pay isn’t bad and you have a flexible schedule. You might want to check out this site: http://onlinesummerjobs.com/category/stu… There’s lots of student summer jobs listed. You can search by job titles and specific locations where you would prefer to work. I’ve found a couple of good project leads from the site. Good luck!

Theodore Said:

I'm a college student and I need a place to search for a good part time job. Please help?

We Answered:

I always made more money (and had better luck balancing with school) with on campus jobs than off. Go to the larger places on campus with a resume (the library, the computing center, etc). Sometimes they won't post jobs but they almost always need people.
