Job Search For Student

Margie Said:

what are some ways to easily find a job for a student?

We Answered:

You should prepare a resume directed at camera stores in which you say that you have a keen interest in photography and cameras and would like to learn more and work in that field. If you have any specific expertise, you should mention it, but otherwise just keep it general.

Include the hours that you will be available and make sure that they include weekends and late night shopping hours which is when specialty stores are at their busiest.

Make sure that you're neatly dressed and well groomed and visit each store in person asking to speak to the manager in each case. Don't just hand in your resume if you can possibly avoid it - the idea is that you get a chance to show your good presentation and interest in working there.

Don't forget places like Harvey Norman - have a chat to the people working in the camera section for advice on who to approach. In all cases, you should visit when the store is not busy and if necessary, go away and return when business is slack.

Be prepared to take any job that will get your foot in the door - that's the hard part and the rest will follow in time if you show that you're a good employee.

Good luck and don't get disheartened if it takes a while.

Looking for a Job in Maryland that applies to my major Business Administration?

We Answered:

Check out AOL Jobs, they have information on summer internships as well as job listings for internships. Look for larger companies--they usually have a internship program that includes other resources and training for students as well as pay.http://jobs.aol.com/articles/category/seasonal-jobs/

Good luck

When is the right time to apply for a job for a student still in school?

We Answered:

Depends on your field. I started applying in late April when I was graduating...BIG MISTAKE. I was out of work for 3 months. But I'm in a highly competitive field, where you should start applying in March. Your best bet would be putting your name out as early as possible.
