When I was in your situation few years before I got my first job in local restaurant in kitchen like a kitchen porter. I like it cos I got reasonable good money for it and also some tips and free meal. ;-) so good luck!

Nope buddy I know it's maybe something you may not want right now especially since you are a college boy who've just finished his freshman year of college like me. Like you I work at a popular retail store pushing carts and cashiering. I've been during this for two years now, and after going through freshman year of college majoring in computer engineering I want something way better than this.

When putting this on your resume make it seem more than what you feel it is. Instead of saying cart pusher say you "actively maintained the upkeep of the store and kept carts stocked to ensure customers enjoyed thier shopping experience."

My adivce to you is not to get discouraged or allow these some of these negative comments posted to get to you. There is nothing wrong with wanting better especially an internship or project within your field of study. In fact it demonstrates you have a level head and know where you are going.

In fact most companies now seek after college students during their freshman or sophmore years because they figure the student can stay in the internship a lot longer and gain more experience. Trust me I am in the exact same situation and as soon as something opens up I am moving on.
