I have a four year old daughter. I came back to work when she was 3months old, because of financial reasons.

Now that she is approaching school age I am wanting to leave work and become a childminder, reason behind this is that I will never be able to spend anytime with her. As a manager I have to work all school holidays as this is the peak season for people working in my team to go on their holidays, plus I have to work every sat. I am a very good worker but feel that I cant do the job anymore because I have to be around for my child. Employers in the UK are not flexible as they make out to be.

the UAE has the sponsorship system and an expat on a student visa under the sponsership of his/her university isn't allowed to work, unless this university has a contract with another institution. You can work for one sponsor only. That's why.
Another reason is, that for working in the UAE you need a work permit from the Ministry of MOL which regulates the work marke in the UAE.

An acquaintance of mine is a paramedic but really wants to go to nursing school. He likes helping people but he is getting burned out as an ambulance jockey. ^_-

I actually considered being a paramedic for a while but after I talked to him I decided I'm going to just try nursing school, instead.

Don't be afraid to pursue a career as a paramedic! It will at least give you an idea what about the healthcare industry you enjoy.
