It will be very tough finding a job in London. I know somebody who is completing his MSc in London and has so far not found any job there. Don't rely on a job in London to support yourself, especially not in IT.

Have you tried your unis jobshop, most unis have one, try looking on your unis website, might be a link via the careers service to the jobshop , and if not the careers service will be able to tell you how to access the jobshop website, or maybe google your uni and the word jobshop.
They list vacancies suitable for students i.e. employers who dont mind employing students and are offering hours to fit around studying etc. Worth checking it out. Another source of vacancies would be the jobcentre, can access the jobcentres vacancies online, type in jobshop in google, think u can search jobs via amount of hours, location etc. Id try the uni jobshop tho first as at my uni this was the only place that some jobs were advertised. Sometimes there may be jobs at the uni, either permanant or temporary, i.e. i got a prt time job in my unis careers service for about 12 hrs a week, doing general admin kinda tasks and there were vacancies like tht in other depts as well as in uni shops etc, but theres also seasonal vacancies i.e. when theyre contacting alumni once a year etc. Plus shops, restaurants etc advertise on the jobshop when they have suitabel vacancies as they know theyl get a fast response this way. You generally know an employer is going to be understanding towards needing certain hours off if you apply via your unis jobshop, as i know frm experience some employers hate students due to their inflexibility sumtimes. If you have come on a student visa there is strict restriction that you will not not seek paid employment and therefore you should avoid it else it is possible you might get deported. However if someone known to you pays you for a service you do for him it will be possible only if your name does not appear on any payroll. You have to be careful that you don't divulge this unofficial job to anyone lest they act as informers.
