Summer. It depends a bit where you are. There are a lot of employers who take on students in the summer when, hopefully there are a lot of tourists about. In Autumn the best you're likely to be able to hope for are temporary Christmas jobs which will probably start mid November or later and end directly after Christmas, unless you have been a totally wonderful employee, when they might keep you on.
