A Student Loan

Jimmy Said:

Can you cosign for a student loan if you already have a loan out under your name?

We Answered:

You can try, but it doesn't mean the bank will approve you. NEVER EVER EVER EVER cosign on someone else's loan unless you are willing and able to pay the entire loan yourself, because you will have to when they don't to save your credit.

Theodore Said:

My daughter can't get a student loan with my co-signing and I don't qualify?

We Answered:

Anyone can get a federal Stafford loan regardless of her parents "Supposedly" high income. The max a dependent senior can borrow is up to 7,500 a year and she does NOT need a cosigner and doesn't need to pass a credit check.

I don't understand why she hasn't been offered Stafford loans all along. Perhaps she didn't check she was "interested" in student loans when she filled out her fafsa the past few years. Again, Stafford loans are federal loans and NEVER require a cosigner.... she could have gotten aid from fafsa if she said she was interested in loans when she did her fafsa. Do NOT cosign for a loan for her. If she can't attend a school without resorting to the evil sub-prime private student loans then she can't afford the school. She needs to quit for awhile and SAVE every penny so she can go back and pay with federal student loans. Again, anyone can get these, without a cosigner.!!

Read this book cover to cover it will help an answer most questions you have have about the process.
