Credit Card For Students

Lewis Said:

How do i apply for credit card?

We Answered:

First of all you must be 18, but sad to say thanks to Obama, you have no chance for a few years.

The new credit card rules, which go into effect in nine months, prohibit companies from giving cards to people under 21 unless they can prove they have the means to pay the debt or a parent or guardian co-signs.

Hope this helps answer your question.

What's a good credit card for students?

We Answered:

Your best (and safest) option would be to open a checking account and then get a VISA debit card. The debit card works anywhere a credit card would, but you will avoid the high interest rates and not get into trouble by spending money you can't afford.

What is the best credit card for undergraduate students?

We Answered:

Any card will do.
I'm not sure why people think they have to pay interest on a credit card.
I have had 2 cards for a decade now and have never paid interest.
If you pay in full you never pay interest - ever.
This also gets you top 800+ scores - super easily.

Go to bankrate.com or credit.com
Make sure you get one without an annual fee.
Forget the interest rate - you will never pay interest if you want good credit for your future.
On your credit report a future lender will not be able to tell if you have paid interest or not if you use your card each month for something you need and pay in full.

Oh I forgot, if you are under 21, you will not be getting a credit card on your own - new laws - you'll need a parent to co-sign.

Which is the best credit card for a college student?

We Answered:

I Totally denounce the anti-credit card for college kids. A checking account will not sufficiently boost credit. While budgeting is great, I recommend mint.com.

IF you are wise and use the card for only things like REAL needs, e.g. gas, food, etc., you can get a ticket on the capitalism bus early.

Some rules:

Low Rates, Rewards, NO ANNUAL FEE!

Pay IN FULL every month from your checking and/or savings account. The web makes it SO easy to manage money/pay bills.

Do not exceed 35-40% of available credit for more than one billing cycle preferably never.

If you can do that with one, then apply for three and NEVER EVER close them. That shows a lengthy credit history.

DO NOT fall for retail % discount gimmicks. EVERY time you aplly for a credit card, your FICO score goes down.

Arthur Said:

Whats the best way to get a loan or credit card for students for personal use?

We Answered:

Student credit cards are typically very easy to get. But don't put yourself in debt over a laptop. Buy a used one, borrow one, or use the library.
