The odds of getting loan forgiveness is slim to none unless you have died or was permanently disabled or something like that. (Loan forgiveness is given to special workers like teachers of children with disabilities and Peace Corp members.) If you are having trouble paying your loans off, you should try putting them in deferment of forebearance. Deferment/forebearance is a grace period given to you where you don't have to pay your loans for 6 months. As long as you keep up with the paperwork (fill out the form every 6 months), you can defer payments for as long as you need to until your situation changes. There are deferments for economic hardship, additional college enrollment, and unemployment.
