does the state of georgia offer to forgive your student loans if you become a teacher? We Answered:
They had a program offering that in 1995. Only if you agreed to live and work in a blighted area where no teachers ever applied. And you had to fulfill your contract, too. No leaving early..Lori Said:

Student loans?We Answered:
You are eligible for an unsubsidized Stafford loan even if you are not eligible for any other financial aid. You will still need to complete all financial aid application requirements that your school has, but you will at least get a Stafford loan. It's only $2650 your first year, but it's something. You will probably also want to at least find someone over the age of 18 to be your cosigner in case you need one since it's very difficult for young people with no credit or bad credit to get loans without a cosigner.Good luck!

What am I allowed to spend student loans on?We Answered:
just not that is wrong about you getting loans 4 weeks after the semester started. That might be right at their college, but not at GA Tech. GA Tech will apply student loans to your student account three days before classes start. You'll get to choose how you wish to receive those funds - most students like to have it direct-deposited over to their own bank accounts, so you'll get those funds within a few days after GA Tech puts it in your account. So if you got offered a $4,000 loan, you'll get $2,000 (minus loan fees) 3 days before Fall semester, and then $2,000 (minus loan fees) 3 days before Spring semester. If you're in need of funds sooner, talk to GA Tech's financial aid office. You can often get advance payment on certain things, OR if you live on campus, they'll allow you to hold off on paying the housing payments until you receive financial aid for the semester.
And yes, you can use student loan funds for anything you want to. Keep in mind that only directly school-related expenses are tax-free, however. If you use student loan funds to pay for housing, food, car payment, insurance, etc., you'll need to report those expenses on your taxes each year.

If I owe student loans can I collect lottery winnings? We Answered:
If you get a job, is the federal government going to take your money from your paycheck? (I mean besides taxes.) Of course not. Money you receive is your money. You're only responsible to pay your taxes from those winnings.Do yourself a HUGE favor - DON'T buy any more scratch tickets! You could be one of the very few people in the whole world who could say they've actually MADE money from the lottery if you stop now. Here's something you should know:
Lottery companies keep 50% of all money they take in! In other words, for every $100,000 the make from sales, they only pay out around $50,000 to winning tickets. (Like to lucky people like you who occasionally win something.)
This 50% number WILL hold up in the long run. If you continue to play, you will eventually give back all that money. If you don't believe me, KEEP TRACK! On one side of a piece of paper write "spent", and on the other side write "won". You can start the "won" column with a nice big number - probably about $1,100 after taxes that you'll actually get. Every time you win more, add that to the $1,100. Every time you buy a ticket put that amount in the "spent" column. Eventually, you will see that your profit has disappeared.
I really hope that you take my advice of NOT playing any more. If you don't, then at the very least keep track so that someday you'll see I was right about this.
Congratulations on your win! Don't worry about the feds getting any of this money because of your student loans.
