You need to talk to your school's financial aid adviser to see if they have any suggestions. Also, try hitting up relatives, and try searching for scholarships. you may be able to work out a payment plan with the school if you are able to work while attending school.

The last responder is correct, you do not need a co-signer for stafford or direct loans..

I work with Student Aid Lending, we are a nationwide lender administed by the Department of Education.. We are a lender so we can both give you loans for college, and consolidation loans once graduating..

It sound like you need answers to questions but cant get help from the school.. Thuis is very common.. Usually financial aid offices at schools have about 6 employees to serve thousands of students.. It doesnt make much sense..

You should go to the colleges financial aid office and ask them about federal loans that you may qualify for, but you have to pay them back or it comes out of your wages and income taxes, etc. You may also qualify for a number of any grants that are available. If you go through a private loan company than you may not get a loan without a cosigner, but I think it is different with Federal Loans.
Tj financial aid office would have a lot of information. Maybe even go to your colleges website. You should even be able to find out information from there

Please for goodness sake do not borrow against your 401k except in dire emergencies.

A home equity loan may be an option to 'prime the pump'. You'll want to make payments on it all along though so you can actually get caught up at some point and not have to borrow at the beginning of each term.

You may also be able to arrange an unsubsidized loan through the school. Ask the Financial Aid folks what's available; they'll know since they're involved with all financial aid anyway.

And - while you're in School Mode, find and attend a Dave Ramsey "Financial Peace University" course. Bad credit is almost always a sign you lack skills for managing money. Ramsey's course will teach you important stuff about keeping track of your finances so you get ahead and eventually have a good credit record to show for it.
