Loans For Students

Brandy Said:

Why do students take out large loans for unmarketable degrees like art and philosophy?

We Answered:

That's nothing... I know a guy (American) who went to college for 4 years to study English ! I guess he passed. hahahaha ! Of course someone else paid his tuition.

Deanna Said:

How would the credit crunch affect students loans?

We Answered:

In short, the answer is no. The Federal government oversees the student loan process. Besides, the federal government would rather people get good educations than try to keep monies away from those students.. I have to disagree with others... Student loans will be provided regardless. They do not and cannot depend on your creditworthiness, unless it is a parent PLUS loan, or a private student loan. Thus, do not worry. Unlike what someone else stated, loans are not reserved for the "top" performing students. As long as you make the grades, you can qualify for the loans.. Not one student loan banking institution has folded. In fact, these loans are the safest bet because they will survive bankruptcy, etc..

Cheryl Said:

Does the government really give out loans for students enrolling in cosmetology?

We Answered:

"Cosmetology, nail tech, massage therapy?"
Yes, however, most of those schools are for profit and mostly rely on federal aid.

"Does sallie mae really give out loans for this?"
Yes, Sallie mae could care less of what the money for as long as it is towards a school.

"Or do those schools just tells students to fill out the FAFSA as a "hike" to get them to enroll"
Most people can't pay for school on his or her own. However, schools do use financial aid as a sales pitch to enroll. Especially when they compare what they offer to other schools.

"Or do they use this so the students can get private student loans"
I highly doubt a school would be establish for the sole purpose of giving a student a private loan from another party. There are laws against that and plus seems pointless doesn't it? Considering to get a private loan, you have to have excellent credit, employed and most times a co signer. Which most people can't even get two out of three of those.

"Are my tax dollars really going for this?"
Unfortunately, yes. Students can get pell for those types of schools and well pell comes out of tax money. However loans either come from the bank or the goverment. So your tax dollars don't fund that.

Martha Said:

Should students be forgiven for student loans?

We Answered:

Yes they should. The government are strict as hell when it comes to student loans and it seems people with credit card debt is a lot better with their rights than those with student loans.

Banks are being forgiven and so is some homeowners that took out a loan for a house they shouldn't bought in the first place. Everyone else can dodge the bullet except student loan borrowers who are walking with balls and chains attached to them as they are practically indebted forever. More students are dropping out of college like flies and graduates can't even find a decent paying job within their field. So much for securing and investing in your 'future' that isn't looking so bright.

My advice to those who is thinking about college (unless your parents can pay for it and you're set to cover the entire cost of four years) please do your research finding different ways to pay and only enter if the major you are taking is truly within your heart is the career you are meant to do. Otherwise go to a community college and take unnecessary general courses for two years and if you still like it or made up your mind about what you REALLY want to do, transfer your credits to the private college or university of your choice so you don't have to rack up a lot of debt.

Education is suppose to be a privilege to all but nowadays that only applies to those who can afford it.
