Sorry, but you are NOT going to find any one on here who is willing to put their credit on the line for a complete stranger. Getting a cosigner for a student loan means you need to find someone who will trust you to pay your bills on time every time, because the credit companies can come after them for YOUR DEBT (that can get up to 50-100k or more depending on what you are going to school for), as well as trash their credit if you do not pay the debts correctly, which you have already shown you cant by being behind on your rent. No one is stupid enough to do that for a complete stranger... I would suggest getting a JOB to help pay your debt.

A private loan with no credit and no collateral will cost you tons, but might be your only option. If you have guaranteed loan status, you'll get it, but the penalty to you will be exorbitant.

If you can borrow even $50 from various friends and family members, you'll be in better shape.

Otherwise, bite the bullet and take the hit. Expect a loan based on a hope of a Stafford loan from a payday loan joint to cost you dearly.

Place like Sallie Mae will only except an undergrad student with a cosigner. However, Citbank offers a CitiAssist loan often with no cosigner.

My brother is a college freshman this year, and has to put himself through school. He tried Sallie Mae, and they didn't accept his loan, but CitiBank did without a cosigner (for over $20,000).

You may also want to look into your own bank & see what types of student loans they offer. Or, check with financial aid at whatever school you are going to. It is their job to help you find money for school.

No.

When a lender tells an applicant "you need a cosigner", they're telling that applicant "you don't qualify for the loan".

To qualify for a loan, the applicant needs appropriate income, assets, income-to-debt ratios and credit history. All of those criteria demonstrate the ability and the responsibility to repay the loan.

A cosigner must be someone who DOES have the income, assets, ratios and credit history to repay the loan, not just another warm body. Cosigning is not a tag team sport, as the lender has absolutely no intention of pursuing both the borrower and cosigner together. They'll start with the borrower, but then turn to the cosigner if the borrower is unable or unwilling to pay.

Having 100 cosigners with no income or credit is of absolutely no value to the lender. They want ONE creditworthy cosigner, not a team of non-creditworthy applicants.

A cosigner who does not have an established credit history will not be accepted by the lender as a guarantor on a student loan. I'm sorry for the disappointing news.
