The best thing is to ask your student advice centre as many universites have fund in place to help students like yourself.

I don't think that the banks will be particularly helpful, especially as many of them have clauses that stipulate you must have been 'normally resident' in the UK for a minimum of three years before they will consider lending.

Otherwise, if all else fails, I've found that the Citizen's Advice Bureau is very helpful with these matters, and will point you in the direction of lenders who will be able to help

Fill out the FAFSA to get loans, and apply for scholarships through the school. Some grad programs are funded (they waive tuition and pay you a small stipend); this is more common in the sciences.

You cannot get a Student Loan for a Masters Course. Colleges to have bursaries and there are research grants available. Have a look at the Direct.gov website for more information on Postgrad support.

The repayment of loans is repaid through the tax system, and only begins after the student has left higher education and is earning over £15,000. This system of collection is known as Income-Contingent Repayment (ICR), because it tapers the repayment obligation according to the gross income of the account holder. It is distinct from the previous mortgage-style scheme in which the monthly repayments were fixed and account holders whose incomes exceeded the deferment threshold, were required to repay the entire instalment each month.
