You can get federal student loans with bad credit and/or bankruptcy and you don't need a cosigner. You apply for fed loans by filling out the FAFSA form at www.fafsa.gov
Of course if you have a bankruptcy on your record it goes without saying that you have bad credit,
I got fed student loans and I have both on my record. You also don't have to start paying back the fed loans until 6 months after you either graduate, drop out of school, or drop below a half time student status.
Now private student loans are a whole different ball game.
